Resistance Economy, the Only Way to Turn Sanctions to Opportunities

According to Fars News Agency's political reporter, imposing unilateral and illegal sanctions has always been one of the illegal tools of the hegemonic system in order to put pressure on the Islamic Republic of Iran.

But a few times after the Islamic Revolution victory and after the capture of the previous U.S. Embassy in Iran known as the Spy Nest, the United States of America imposed some sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran. During the past 30 years, this country has added to the level and intensity of these sanctions as well. During the past few years, the western countries for the purpose of stopping the peaceful nuclear energy of Iran have struggled so much. In fact they have increased the sanctions which are known as the illegal tools of the western countries.

On the other side, imposing such an approach by the western countries caused that the supreme leader of Iran to mention the resistance economy. He also considered it as one of the significant and important methods in the economic movement of Iran. The interesting issue regarding this matter is that by using such an approach, for sure the golden bullets of the west towards the Islamic Republic of Iran will be neutralized. During his speech to the pilgrims of Imam Reza’s shrine during the Nowruz (Iranian New Year) of 2008 pointed out to this issue and he stipulated: “During these years in order to prevent the growth, development and power of the Islamic system of Iran, they did any activities. If you imagine that they could cause a loss and they did not do that, that is wrong; they did all the things that they could do; what they did not do was due to this issue that they could not do that. Against their Imposed War, their illegal aggression, their economic sanctions, their mental wars, their propagandas, their violations and noises and the shouting games that they did against the Islamic Republic of Iran, against all of these issues, the Islamic Republic of Iran resisted and defeated them by the support of this strong and brave nation. It resisted not because of this meaning that it was able to keep itself on standing position and did not let them to ruin it, but also for the meaning that it got more powers day by day.”?

The supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei in another part of his speeches pointed out to the need of compiling an independent economic model for the development of country said: “Maybe some of the economic theorists to say: “Mr. it is not possible; if you want to get economic development, you have to accept the gap between classes of society! Here we would like to say that innovation is the respond. We should not imagine this issue that the western economic versions are the maximized level of man findings; no, it could be presented as a version too. It has a time; that era will be passed and a new and modern thought will enter the scene; you should find that new thought; the index should be this one. We want our country to be a rich country; we want to publicize the investments of country in the production sectors. Today many wealthy persons are in our country who have so much wealth; they can use these wealth in the useful and pride making fields; it will have profits for themselves and it will have profits for the people too and also it can be followed by God satisfaction as well; the investment of wealthy persons to the works that end up with the production of country and to the increase of goods inside the country with high efficiency can be considered as worship and it has so much blessing. This way is open; they can invest, they can create wealth; the country management must also be careful that all the classes of society to benefit from the profits and the weak classes of the society also to be able to use the opportunities in order to leave the weakness; all the persons to get the ability. During the past 30 years we have been developed so much. Until now the enemy has been defeated by us; until this hour and this day the enemies of our nation including the devil network of Zionism and the arrogant regime of the United States of America have been defeated by the nation of Iran.”?

After that the supreme leader of Iran stated the resistance economy and he said this model can be considered as the main model. He also described this model among the crowds of worshippers during the Ramadan month of 2010. During this visit he pointed out to the need of creating a new economic model and he named it as resistance economy and he stipulated: “We should create a resistance economy in our country. Today entrepreneurship means this work. Our friends said the truth that we will bypass the sanctions; I have the same belief. The Iranian nation and the authorities of country should bypass the sanctions and they defeat the sanctions; the same as other activities which were done during the past years. During the past years they did some activities in the political field and they made a mistake, they did a movement, after that they had to return. Each of them apologized. For sure you can remember some of them. All of the work that have been done in this field, all of these movements are sourced from the movements of the great nation of Iran. We have achieved many successes in the atmosphere of sanctions; therefore the enemies of this country can do nothing. Anyways, it should be a reason for all the authorities of country to be obliged to do this work. They should refer to creating work, production, entrepreneurship. They should try to update the great workshops that for sure the Islamic Republic of Iran can be considered as a huge workshop today. All the persons of society should consider themselves obliged in this field too.”?

Since that time until now, during different visits, he emphasized on this issue including designing a model based on the idea of resistance economy several times.

Also during his annual visit with the university students in Ramadan month of 2011 pointed out to the words of students regarding the discourse of establishing studying and research groups in different fields including the resistance economy and he considered this plan very interesting.

The speeches of the supreme leader stressed on the need of designing the resistance economy model and they pointed out to this matter that the path of economic sanctions passes from the resistance economy and this mater must be under the attentions of authorities and designers.
