Iran’s Army to release new titles on captivity

The Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran will release two new titles on research about captivity during Sacred Defense week.

Speaking with IBNA, the publication and media deputy of the Foundation for Preservation and Publication of Sacred Defense Works and Values of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran has said that the books are entitled as the ‘Statue of Persistence’ and ‘Iranian POWs or Detainees’.
As Commander Behzad Mirahmadi said the books will be released during the Sacred Defense week in Iran.
Shadab Askari has authored the books based on the Red Cross documents available about Iranian captives in Iraqi prisoner camps.
As he said, the documents focus on the lives and living conditions of Iranian prisoners in Iraqi detention centers.
Askari has previously authored numerous other works on the same subject in Iran and has had the published by the same organization.
On Friday, August 17, 1990, a year after Iran and Iraq accepted Resolution 598 of the UN Security Council, the first group of POWs returned to Iran from Iraq. Since then, almost 40,000 Iranian detainees have returned home.
